Online payment methods for UK customers

To give UK customers different options, we offer three payment options during checkout on the website. The three available online payment options are:

Stripe - Debit Card / Credit Card

The Stripe Debit/Credit card system allows you to make a credit or debit card payment directly on our website as we have a Stripe merchant gateway. We accept VISA, VISA Debit, MasterCard, Maestro, Solo, Discover and American Express.

You can enter your credit card details during the final steps of the checkout process which is 100% secure as we have SSL Encryption. We also never see your full card details.

This payment method can only be used by UK based customers.

You must enter your long card number, the expiry date and the last three security digits from the card in the box otherwise the payment will fail.

Please ensure that you return to our store once you have made your payment to complete the order.

PayPal - PayPal/Debit Card/Credit card

You do not need a PayPal account, or need to sign up to PayPal, to use the checkout on our website when choosing this option.

You will be taken to a secure payment page on the PayPal website, where you either log in to your PayPal account and pay using your PayPal funds or one of your saved cards, or you can enter your debit or credit card details and payments will automatically be taken by PayPal.

By using PayPal you are covered up to a maximum of £500-00 if you use a recorded method of delivery. Virtual products (downloads) are not covered by PayPal Buyer Protection.

This payment method can be used by all customers, and can also be used for downloadable only orders.

Please ensure that you return to our store once you have made your payment otherwise the order may not complete and be fully recorded.

Direct bank transfer (BACS)

Once the checkout process has been completed using this payment method, you will be sent our bank details in the order confirmation email, so ensure you have access to the email account you used to create your Railwayscenics account.

If you choose this method of payment please ensure that you enter the bank details correctly as Railwayscenics will not be held responsible for any incorrectly entered details.

Please use the reference supplied in the order email otherwise we may miss your payment and not send the order.

Your order will be sent once we have received notification from our bank that a payment has been received, and not before.

This payment method can only be used by UK based customers, and cannot be used for downloadable only orders.

Offline payment methods for UK customers

While we understand some customers prefer alternative payment methods, we have streamlined our online checkout process to offer a more secure and efficient experience for everyone. However, we still want to cater to your needs! If you are not comfortable paying online, you can simply place your order over the phone and complete the payment securely with one of our representatives. Just call us during business hours and we will be happy to guide you through the process.

Square Phone Payments - Debit Card / Credit Card

Finally, should you have trouble with paying online, or just do not like doing it, we offer a further payment option where you can give us a call and pay over the telephone. There is a minimum payment of £ 10.00 due to additional costs incurred when using this payment method.

Square virtual terminal allows us to take credit or debit card payments over the telephone. We can accept payments using most debit and credit cards.

The process is 100% secure and we never save your card details, or write them down, and can never access any of the details after the transaction has been completed.

This payment method can only be used by UK based customers with a UK delivery address, and cannot be used for download product only orders.

The process is a long one using this method if you have never purchased from us before. To save time, it is best if you can visit the website and create an account, which we can then access to add items to your basket and complete the checkout for you. If you do not have an account, we will have to create one for you with the information that we ask for.

Discontinued payment methods for UK customers

Cheques/Postal Orders

To streamline your shopping experience and offer faster processing, we no longer accept cheques or postal orders as payment options. This decision was made due to changes in the availability of our banking services, and unfortunately, processing these payments no longer aligns with our commitment to providing efficient and secure transactions.

Non UK customers

Non UK customers can only pay using the PayPal option which allows you to pay using money from your PayPal account, or most other debit or credit cards. There may be an additional charge for some cards.

Secure Payments

3DS2 and SCA

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) has been introduced to enhance the security of online payments and combat fraud, in alignment with the Payment Service Directive (PSD2) enforced by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Under this new system, every online transaction will require an extra layer of security authentication. This means that when making a purchase online, customers will need to provide their debit or credit card details along with an additional form of identification, such as a PIN or Code, a fingerprint, or a verification via phone or card. It is important to note that this additional step is conducted by your bank during the checkout process, and failure to complete it will result in payment failure on our website.

For all card payments made on our website, 3D Secure (3DS) authentication will be mandatory. When paying over the telephone, we will also ask an additional security question alongside the card details. These measures are implemented for both your security and our protection against fraudulent activities.
