about us

Overview

Railwayscenics is a family run business working from home, so the safety and protection of me and my family is my main priority during this latest lockdown. We have created a family bubble which includes our parents who are older and vulnerable, and rely on what little we can do for them. We do not want to be responsible for spreading covid-19 to anyone, especially not older family members. I also do not want to put myself at a higher risk of contamination as I am considered to be in a higher risk group due to other health issues. Please respect my wishes and the changes I have made to the way the business runs and works.

I am closely monitoring the latest government guidelines and have re-introduced increased cleaning and hygiene awareness throughout the storage and office spaces here at Railwayscenics, which is also our home.

We are working as near to normal as possible, and are packing orders as quickly as we can. We are now only travelling to the post office when I consider it necessary. This does mean that there may be a short delay to some orders being dispatched. This is being done to reduce any potential risks to us as a family, reducing risks to the post office staff and also that of our delivery partners. We are also treating all orders on a first come first served basis which seems the fairest way of doing things. We really appreciate your patience and understanding at this worrying time. We will update you with an email once your order has been posted along with any tracking or delivery information if we have it, and you have paid for a service where it is available.

We have cancelled our daily order cut-off time, and will now just pick and pack as many orders as we can before we have to take them to the post office by 4.00pm at the very latest. This is impacting the posting times of parcels in some cases by a day or more due to the increased work load, and the slower picking and packing times because of the safety and hygiene measurers we have implemented. If necessary we will take the website off-line to reduce the number of orders that we have to deal with, and to reduce any backlogs that may happen.

Deliveries

Our delivery partners Royal Mail, UPS and Hermes are all experiencing some delay. Royal Mail deliveries are currently subject to some long delays in some areas. We will continue to despatch orders and parcels as quickly as we can, but there may be a delivery delay of up to 7 - 21 working days. Please be patient, they are working through it, all be it very slowly. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, but it is out of our hands.

UPS and Myhermes are experiencing some short delays. Although nothing is mentioned on either of their websites, I am hearing from customers that next day deliveries are taking 2 to 3 days and the 5 day service is taking up to 8 working days.

Some countries have imposed restrictions on incoming mail. Please check with your local mail service before ordering as we cannot be held responsible for any delivery or customs delays. Most postal delays to international countries are being caused by cross border delays.

Manufacturers stock and supplies

We are receiving regular deliveries from the all of our main suppliers. However, some are experiencing delays and product shortages, but we are doing our best to maintain levels of stocks to as near normal as possible. Our website shows stock levels and these in most cases are accurate, but if an item is not held in the quantity that the website says, we will let you know by email.

Thank You

We want to thank you for your continued support during this time. Please respect our wishes and the service changes mentioned above as they could impact the service you receive. Its done for our safety, and that of others in the family bubble we have created, and this must take priority and be our main concern. Too many rude or impatient customers and the business will be closed until the lockdown is eased.

Steve, Kate and Gaby.
