Description
4700uf 25v keep alive capacitor kit of components to make a basic stay alive unit for use with DCC operated locomotives. Can be used for sound, lighting and motor circuits.
This kit makes up a stay alive, or keep alive unit that can be used on most DCC chips. The unit will give a very small extra burst of power should there be a small break in the power supply. Do not expect miraculous running with these units fitted.
The BLUE wire is connected to the Function Common - DC Positive
The BLACK wire is connected to the DC Negative of the decoder. The DC Negative is easily found at the Anode ends of the two Input Diodes (Bridge Rectifier), that have their Cathodes (Band) Ends connected to the Track Input.
This wiring is available on many new decoders and may require soldering to the chip on older models.
You will be required to solder the components according following the illustration supplied and to apply gentle heat to shrink the wrapping.
Replacement parts are all available elsewhere on this website.
Safety information (Please read before adding any files to your basket)
This item includes basic assembly wiring information. You will be required to find the correct places to solder the blue and black wires on your chosen decoder it the decoder does not come with already fitted, as they are all different.
Railwayscenics will not be held responsible for any damage to decoders or associated parts.
These units will not remove problems when running over poorly laid track, dirty tracks or poorly maintained locos.
There is a very good website here with lots of information about
stay alive and fitting.
