The new method used by the Royal mail to calculate postage costs make it very
difficult for us to charge for delivery. The nature of the products we
sell means some are small, high value items that weigh very little whilst others
are larger and heavier. We therefore calculate postage by weight of order, which we
believe is the fairest method. All the items that we sell have an accurate
weight assigned to them, which is used to calculate these costs. We will
always use the smallest packaging that we can in order to obtain the best price
available. Where we believe that an overcharge has been made for delivery,
we will notify the customer and refund the difference.
All our postage costs are based on the latest prices issued by the royal
mail.
Once your order is complete, the weight of the total order is calculated and
the postage total is added to your order. A separate page within the
checkout process allows you to select your delivery method and also shows the
total delivery price.. If you think that the price is too high, drop us an
email and we will see what we can do. If you feel that postage costs are
too high, do not order your items then complain.
Some items that we sell, especially our electrical wire products are heavy.
These we usually have to send as a packet, and prices for this could be more
that stated on the website. We do not charge you extra for this.
Once we have packed your order, it is taken to the local post office, weighed
and then paid for. Proof of postage is obtained and kept for a minimum of
20 days.
We do add a very small charge of £0.50 to cover any packaging costs incurred.
We do not charge any handling fees for international orders, and these are
also based on charges by Royal Mail.
Royal Mail has decided that on 30/12/2012 they will raise their delivery
costs. This will obviously affect all of our mail order customers. Most of
our current orders are sent within the Royal Mail packet delivery class. This is
where they consider that the prices should be raised most. We have no option but to pass this price increase onto
you, our customers. For this we are very sorry.
